Privacy Policy

1. Overview
TSLAIQ VIN Reports (“the Site”) is operated by Vermel Ventures LLC, a California limited liability company. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
The short version: we collect very little. Browsing the Site and decoding a VIN does not require an account. The places we record data tied to you are the VIN Decoder tool (for abuse prevention and report access) and, if you choose to buy credits, your account and purchase history. We do not sell or share user data. Each of these is described below.
2. What We Do Not Do
TSLAIQ VIN Reports does NOT:
- Require an account to browse the Site or decode a VIN
- Store your card or full payment details on our servers
- Use tracking cookies for advertising
- Sell, share, or trade user data to third parties
- Store any text pasted into the SC Code Finder tool
3. VIN Decoder
When you submit a VIN to the VIN Decoder, the request is sent to our backend. We:
- Look up the VIN in our own database of previously-decoded vehicles
- If we haven't seen the VIN before, we query the public NHTSA vPIC API (vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov) to decode the basic vehicle attributes
- Store the decoded result in our database so future lookups for the same VIN are faster and don't require an external query
Each request is logged for abuse prevention and rate-limiting purposes. Logs include the VIN submitted, a timestamp, your IP address, and your browser user-agent string. We do not associate VIN lookups with personal identity, and we do not share these logs with advertisers or third-party analytics providers. Persistent automated abuse may result in IP-level rate limiting or blocking.
When a VIN lookup succeeds, we record a short-lived report entitlement so you can open the corresponding vehicle report. This record stores a per-browser device identifier, the VIN, and the IP address the lookup came from. The IP is used both for abuse prevention and so that a returning visitor whose browser identifier has changed (for example after clearing cookies) can still reopen a report they recently looked up from the same network. Entitlement records are kept only as long as needed for this purpose: the IP address is removed after 30 days, and the record itself is deleted within 90 days of expiry. These records are never shared with advertisers or third-party analytics providers, and free-tier records are not linked to any account.
4. Accounts and Purchases
If you buy credits, you create an account so your balance and the reports you unlock stay attached to you. We use passwordless sign-in, so the account information we hold is your email address, your credit balance, and a record of the reports you have unlocked and the credit purchases and adjustments on your account. We use this only to provide the service: signing you in, showing your balance, and letting you reopen reports you have paid for.
Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, which acts as merchant of record for the transaction. When you pay, your card or payment details are entered with that provider, not with us. We do not receive or store your full card number. The provider shares with us only what we need to fulfil the order and support you, such as a confirmation that payment succeeded, an order reference, and the email associated with the purchase. The provider's own handling of your payment data is governed by its privacy policy.
5. SC Code Finder
The SC Code Finder tool runs entirely in your browser. Any text you paste is processed locally on your device using client-side JavaScript. No data is transmitted to TSLAIQ VIN Reports or any third party. When you close or navigate away from the page, the pasted data is discarded.
6. Theme Preference
The Site stores your light/dark theme preference in your browser's local storage (localStorage) under the key “sc01-theme.” This is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to any server. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.
7. Hosting and Analytics
The Site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs (IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) as part of their hosting infrastructure. This data is governed by Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
We may use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand general traffic patterns: page views, geographic regions, device types. These analytics do not use cookies, do not track individual users across sites, and do not collect personally identifiable information.
8. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site contains links to third-party websites such as EV-CPO.com (used by the verification guide) and NHTSA.gov (used by the VIN Decoder backend). When you follow these links, you leave TSLAIQ VIN Reports and are subject to the privacy policies of the destination sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us and we will take steps to remove such information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
